2019 - 2020 Academic Year Spring Semester Applications for Double Major and Minor Programs

TERMS OF APPLICATION

Study Period
Students can apply to the second major diploma program no earlier than the beginning of the third semester and no later than the fifth semester in the undergraduate degree; or no earlier than the beginning of the second and no later than the third semester in the associate degree programs. 
They can apply to the minor program no earlier than the beginning of the third semester and no later than the sixth semester in the undergraduate programs.
They can apply to the double major program no earlier than the beginning of the third semester and no later than the fifth semester in the undergraduate programs; or no earlier than the beginning of the second semester and no later than the third semester in the associate degree programs.

​Academic Achievement
Students with minimum GPA 2.72 over 4.00 in an undergraduate degree program and students with minimum GPA of 3.00 over 4.00 in an associate degree program whose class rankings in the major program show that they are in the top 20% of their class and also those who have completed all courses they have taken until that semester can apply for a double major program.

​Students with minimum GPA 2.72 over 4.00 in an undergraduate degree program and students with minimum GPA of 3.00 over 4.00 in an associate degree program but whose class rankings in the major program show that they are not in the top 20% of their class at the time of application may apply on condition to have obtained the base score of the second major program on the date of their entrance to the University.

​Undergraduate students with minimum GPA 2.50 over 4.00 in a major program and who have completed all courses with credits successfully until that semester can apply for a minor program.

For applications of double major programs, undergraduate students must be at the beginning of the 3., 4, and 5. semester and associate degree students must be at the beginning of the 2. or 3. semester. For applications of minor programs, undergraduate students must be at the beginning of the 3., 4, 5. or 6. semester. The calculation for semesters are made based on the total completed credits of the major department/program. (see İstanbul Şehir University Bylaw on Associate and Undergraduate Degree Education and Examination Article 15-3)

​Students who are studying in Turkish programs and who are applying for double major / minor in an English program but cannot successfully complete the optional English preparatory program or do not have an English proficiency certificate accepted by the Senate are required to obtain sufficient points in the STEP exam to be held on the following dates.

English Placement Test and Şehir Test of English Proficiency (STEP) Dates:
English Placement Test: 22 January 2020 Wednesday / Time: 11.00 / Place: Dragos Campus, AB2-2206
STEP Exam-Written: 23 January 2020 Thursday / Time: 10.00 / Place: Dragos Campus, AB2-2206
ATTENTION: Only students with a Placement Test score above a certain level may take the STEP. Students who are eligible to take STEP are required to pay 500 TL to the Financial Affairs Directorate before the STEP exam to be held on Thursday, January 23, 2019.
The students who apply for the Islamic Studies program are required to take 80 points from Arabic Proficiency Test and 70 points from YDS (Foreign Language Exam).

For students who want to study Islamic Studies as double major, the central placement score for the exam year in the point type valid for the diploma program that student study as double major program is required not to be under the lowest base score of the diploma programs, equal to the major program the student wants to study as double major, in other universities in the country.

ASSESSMENT
Applications are evaluated by the Board of Directors related to the program. It is not possible to register for more than one second major program at the same time. However, it is possible to register a second major diploma and minor programs at the same time.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS and REGISTRATION 
​Names of all students whose application for Double Major / Minor programs are accepted are announced on the web site on the date specified for the announcement of the results and they are registered, and these students also register for double major / minor program courses in the new semester.​

FEES​
Scholarship status for students registered for Double Major / Minor program is determined based on the provisions of İstanbul Şehir University Instruction on Associate and Undergraduate Degree Scholarship.

REGULATION​
In our university, the double major program is conducted based on İstanbul Şehir University Instruction for the Double Major Program, and the minor program is conducted based on İstanbul Şehir University Instruction for the Minor Program.
