The 2nd Youth Congress of Social Sciences on Modern Turkey calls young academics to discuss the highly effective continuities and changes in political, social and cultural life in Turkey from an interdisciplinary perspective.

Continuities and changes are closely connected to micro and macro developments people find themselves in. The congress aims to have a closer look and seeks to inquire the continuities and changes in the political, social, historical, economic, religious, and artistic fields in Turkey and its connected geographies. We especially want to explore the often invisible but highly effective continuities and changes that are created in Turkey.

The Congress will be held on April 21, 2018 in İstanbul Şehir University Dragos Campus. The congress will be organized by İstanbul Şehir University Center for Modern Turkish Studies in association with the Marmara University International Relations Club, İstanbul Şehir University Sociology Club and İstanbul Şehir University Diplomacy Club. The main objective of the congress is to provide an academic platform and an opportunity to cooperate with graduate and undergraduate students who are interested in the issues on Turkey’s social, political, economic and cultural modernization process in the last two centuries by examining this topic.

This year's conference will especially focus on topics and issues of political system, foreign policy, sociology, history, psychology, international relations, immigration, freedom, identity, faith groups and the military, defense, literature, philosophy and law. Papers and panel proposals on the wide range of Modern Turkish studies are also welcome.

The Congress will be conducted in Turkish and English. The Congress is also open to senior undergraduate and graduate (master and doctorate) students. Deadline for application: 15th of March 2018.
