Duties of Graduate Assistants
​​Below you may find the duties of graduate assistants of the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences.
To assist faculty with all necessary tasks of (a) teaching, (b) research and (c) service to the university.
Such tasks may include, but not limited to, the followings:
  • ​​Attend lectures given by the instructor whom they are assisting.
  • Take the attendance of the class they assist.
  • Meet with supervisors to discuss students' grades, and to complete required grade-related paperwork.
  • Provide assistance to faculty members or staff with laboratory or field research.
  • Lead discussion sections, tutorials, and laboratory sections.
  • Help to develop teaching materials such as syllabi, visual aids, answer keys, supplementary notes, and course websites.
  • Demonstrate use of laboratory equipment, and enforce laboratory rules.
  • Copy and distribute classroom materials.
  • Order or obtain materials needed for classes.
  • Schedule and maintain regular office hours to meet with students.
  • Return assignments to students in accordance with established deadlines.
  • Assist faculty members or staff with student conferences and visiting academics.
  • Provide instructors with assistance in the use of audiovisual equipment.
  • Provide assistance to library staff in maintaining library collections.
  • Assist academic activities organized by the university.
  • Assist director(s) of the research centers.
  • Inform students of the procedures for completing and submitting class work such as term-papers and reports.
  • Proctor examinations.
  • Provide help with assessment as requested by the course instructor.
  • Perform all necessary lab, field and literature surveying work as required by their research thesis.
  • Other duties that may be assigned by the Graduate Program Coordinators, Director of the Graduate School, the Dean of the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences, or the Rector.
