İstanbul Şehir University Faculty Member Assist. Prof. Anıl Divarcı Çakmaklı’s article has been published in the world-renowned sociology periodical American Journal of Sociology. Being the first pub​lication in the journal focusing on Turkey, the article discusses the relation between local organizations and globalization.

Titled "When Does Globalization Lead to Local Adaptation? The Emergence of Hybrid Islamic Schools in Turkey, 1985-2007", the article discusses the dynamics of globalization and localization through hybrid organizational forms of high school education in Turkey. The co-authors of the article are Christophe Boone from the University of Antwerp, and Arjen van Witteloostuijn from Tilburg University.

Who is Assist. Prof. Anıl Divarcı Çakmaklı?
Anıl Divarcı Çakmaklı holds an MA degree in Economics from Istanbul Technical University, an MPhil degree in Philosophy and Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam, and a PhD degree in Management from the University of Antwerp. She worked at Sabancı University as a post-doc researcher between 2013-2015. Her research focuses on organization theory and strategy. She gives lectures in the School of Management and Administrative Sciences at İstanbul Şehir University.
