Ayhan Kep, İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Director, Erol Küçükbakırcı, President of Turkey Cycling Federation, Pınar Pinzuti, the owner of, participated in the panel as speakers, in which Prof. Peyami Çelikcan made an opening speech and a presentation about the story about the coming of the bicycle to Anatolia.

"The transportation in the Dragos Campus is possible only on foot or by bike."
Having told that the phase of transition to the transportation by bike integrated into the public transportation has started because of the risks, especially threatening the environment in world-wide, Çelikcan stated his disagreement of expressions that this transformation would be very difficult in İstanbul and said that all sections, especially universities should be responsible in order to provide this transformation. Çelikcan told that İstanbul Şehir University has moved to the Dragos Campus and created a bicycle friendly campus and said, “One can come to the campus entrance by motor vehicles, but the transportation in the campus is possible only on foot or by bike. In the first place, we allocated 200 bicycles for our students to use. Our students can use these bikes without doing anything through the use-leave method. Our aim is to ensure that our students have a cycling life culture. Because the duty of a university is not only to spread the information it produces, but also they are to be role model in the solutions of the society’s primary problems. As Istanbul Şehir University we make and will make efforts to popularize the cycling life culture within and outside of the campus along with our students and employees.”

"We are spending hours in traffic while not sparing 1 hour for sports"
Prof. Peyami Çelikcan said they integrated the bike path in the campus into the bike path extending in Kartal Maltepe, Pendik, Bostancı and added, “We believe that all institutions having a campus should support cycling life by starting bike use firstly in their own campus and then by providing integration of it into the bike path outside of the campus. Otherwise, no matter how many measures are taken, living in İstanbul will be increasingly greater problem. People who do not spare one hour for doing sports will have to continue to spend hours in traffic. So, I call all private and public institutions, notably universities for support the transition to the cycling life.”
