ASST. PROF. SAMI ANIS ABUHAMDEH
College of Humanities and Social Sciences Psychology
Sami joined the psychology department at Istanbul Sehir University in 2010. He had previously been Visiting Assistant Professor at the American University in Cairo. Sami’s current research focus is intrinsic motivation – the motivation to engage in an activity because you enjoy it, rather than for reasons extrinsic to the activity (e.g. money, prestige). His work examines the situational factors that promote intrinsic motivation (especially the role of challenge), as well as the more immediate phenomenological factors that mediate these relationships (e.g. attentional involvement; suspense).
