Joint PhD from ŞEHİR and École Pratique des Hautes Études to Hümeyra Bostan, the PhD student of ŞEHİR History

Hümeyra Bostan, the PhD student of İstanbul Şehir University History Department, was awarded to get a joint doctorate degree from ŞEHİR and École Pratique des Hautes Études.
Hümeyra Bostan, the PhD student in İstanbul Şehir University Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences History Department, defended her thesis titled "Defending the Ottoman Capital Against the Russian Threat: Late 18th Century Fortifications of İstanbul" in front of the leading academics.

The thesis defense of Hümeyra Bostan was very successfull and she got her PhD from both university in accordance with the contract between İstanbul Şehir University and École Pratique des Hautes Études (EPHE), one of the most prestigious research and higher education institutions in France.

Advisors of the thesis were Prof. Engin ​Akarlı and Prof. Nicolas Vatin. The thesis was defended in front of the jury gathered at İstanbul Şehir University Dragos Campus. In the thesis committee, there were Prof. Emilie d’Orgeix from France (EPHE) , Prof. Gabor Agoston from USA (Georgetown University), Prof. Zeynep Tarım from Turkey (İstanbul Univeristy) and Assoc. Prof. Kahraman Şakul (İstanbul Şehir University).​
