Announcement Date: 19 November 2018
Application Deadline: 31 December 2018
Announcement of Results: 11 January 2019
TRAINEESHIP PERIOD: February 2019 – May 2019

Erasmus+ Student Mobility for Traineeship (Internship/Work Placement)
Under Learning Mobility of Individuals (Key Action 1), students at higher education institutions holding a valid Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) can spend an internship period between 2 months and 12 months in an enterprise or organization in another programme country to develop hands on work experience in the occupational field relevant to their study area.
The scope of the enterprise or the organization where a student makes internship should be directly related to study area of the student and contribute her/him by providing practical work experience. In this regard, Erasmus student mobility for placement cannot be used for research assignments and analysis purposes for the study area.
The current announcement is the traineeship call for “student mobility for traineeship” under Key Action 1 of Erasmus+ for the academic year of 2018-2019, that covers the period between 1 June 2017 and 31 May 2019.

What are the preconditions for Student Mobility for Traineeships?
  • Unlike Erasmus student mobility for studies, there is no need for a prior inter-institutional agreement between home and host institutions in case of internships, even if the latter is a university.
  • Erasmus students are selected by the Erasmus Commission of İstanbul Şehir University (ŞEHİR) in a fair and transparent way. The Commission may apply the principle of departmental quotas in the selection of the students for the available spaces.
  • To ensure high-quality mobility activities with maximum impact on the students, the mobility activity should respond to student degree-related learning and personal development needs.

Total Quota for 2018-2019 Academic Year
The quota for the current call is 13 to 15 students depending on the countries of destination students prefer to go, considering there are three different groups of countries according to their cost of living (Please refer to the Table A: Erasmus Grants According to the Country of Destination for grant amounts per group of countries)
Erasmus Commission may apply the principle of departmental quotas for the selection of the students in order to make more students from different departments benefit from the available grant. Erasmus Commission may also prefer to send the students for two months, minimum time period for the activity to be eligible both with and without grant, according to the total number of applications and available grants.

Who can benefit?
Students who are currently studying in an undergraduate and/or graduate level at ŞEHİR can benefit from Erasmus traineeship (internship) mobility as long as they meet the below conditions and submit their applications by the deadline stated on this call:
  • The applicants must have arranged a full-time internship (35-40 hours per week) at an approved company/organization in one of the programme countries.
  • Recent higher education graduates may participate in Erasmus traineeship mobility as long as they apply before they graduate and must carry out and complete their traineeship abroad within one year of obtaining their graduation. Therefore, students at their last year can apply now to benefit from Erasmus placement right after their graduation.
  • The students who benefited from Erasmus study or placement mobility before can also apply to this call. However students have to make sure that the total length of mobility at each level (undergraduate or graduate) -no matter the type of mobility- should not exceed 12 months. As different from Life Long Learning (LLP) Erasmus Programme, a student who benefited from Erasmus placement mobility before can apply for the same mobility at the graduate level.
  • Undergraduate students must have at least 2.50 / 4.00 cumulative GPA and graduate students must have at least 3.00 / 4.00 cumulative GPA in order to be eligible to benefit from the Erasmus grant.
