Outgoing Staff Mobility

​​​​​​​​ERASMUS+ OUTGOING STAFF MOBILITY FOR TEACHING

Teaching staff mobility is the area of activity that enables staff of higher education institutions holding an Erasmus University Charter (EUC) to spend a teaching period between 2 days and 2 months at a higher education institution in one of the European Union member countries.

Objectives of Staff Mobility for Teaching:

  • To encourage higher education institutions to broaden and enrich the range and content of courses they offer;
  • To allow students who do not have the possibility to participate in a mobility scheme, to benefit from the knowledge and expertise of academic staff from higher education institutions and from invited staff of enterprises in other European countries;
  • To promote exchange of expertise and experience on pedagogical methods;
  • To create links between higher education institutions and with enterprises;
  • To motivate students and staff to become mobile and to assist them in preparing a mobility period.

As part of the online application you must complete, scan and upload the below required documents: 
  • ​Official Invitation Letter from Host University
  • Teaching Mobility Agreement signed and stamped by all the sides. 

For the application period, please follow the relevant application call at Erasmus+ and Exchange Programs Calls section.

Please kindly note that in order to apply for Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching, you should consult the Dean of the Faculty for initial approval of your proposed mobility and absence (ensuring any teaching/work responsibilities can be covered).

​​​Selection Procedure

Full-time academic staff employed at İstanbul Şehir University can be eligible to benefit from Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching. The applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria: 
  • A valid Erasmus+ Inter-institutional Agreement with the respective host university within the relevant field of teaching 
  • Departmental diversity
  • -10 points for previous participation in Erasmus+ p​rogramme
  • Disadvantaged academic staff  (The statement from a doctor or other relevant authority confirming the special needs should be submitted to the International Relations Office during the application period): +10 points 
  • Participation in Erasmus programme in the country of nationality: - 10 points 
  • Application from a non-active department within the Erasmus+ Programme: +10 points 
  • Application to a non-active hosting country within the Erasmus+ Pro​gramme: +10 points  
  • ​Compliance with the Internationalization Strategies and Aims of İstanbul University University as outlined in the Erasmus+ Charter for Higher Education 2014-2020 and its Internationalization Strategy: +10 points

Erasmus+ with Grant Option
Academic staff may be awarded an Erasmus grant to help cover their living expenses during their mobility period. Grant payment is subject to the amount of applications received, potential destination of the applicants and availability of funds from the Turkish National Agency. Please note that Erasmus grants are only contribution, meaning may not suffice for all your expenses and participants are responsible for their own living expenses during the exchange. 

Amount of daily individual grants and of the travel support based on distance between the partner institutions are announced by Turkish National Agency:

Total amount you receive is calculated on the basis of days you actually spend in exchange. 

The grant is usually paid in two instalments:  
  • The first installment (80% of the total amount) is paid within 45 days of signing the mobility grant agreement which has to be signed by participant and ŞEHİR.
  • The remaining 20% is paid after the participant returns and upon proper delivery of all the required final mobility documents. This second installment will not be paid until all the required documents are submitted.

Erasmus+ without Grant Option
Participants who are entitled to receive an Erasmus grant may abandon their right to receiving the grant or eligible applicants may benefit from Erasmus staff mobility through "without grant option" by declaring to the International Office that they want to use this right after the announcement of results.

Additional Grant Opportunity for Staff with Special Needs
Additional grants are available for staff with special needs who wish to participate in Erasmus+ programme and where participation would not be possible without extra financial support. In order to learn more about additional grant opportunities for participants with special needs, please get in contact with International Relations Office.

​​​Before the Mobility

Before the mobility period, participants should follow the steps listed below and submit the necessary documents to the International Relations Office. (Please click the title of the document to download it): 
  • Staff Mobility Agreement for Teaching​ signed and stamped by all the parties.  
  • Copy of Passport (information pages)
  • Copy of visa 
  • Euro Bank Account: Participants should open a EURO bank account at Halkbank and send the bank account details to the International Relations Office. The bank details we require to pay your grant must be Halkbank euro bank account. 
  • Grant Agreement: The grant agreement is signed by ŞEHİR and the participant before the beginning of the mobility. Original signatures are used, and it is not possible to use digital signatures for grant agreement. The grant agreement states the total amount of the Erasmus+ grant which depends on the period of mobility and the group of the hosting country.

​​​After the Mobility

  • Confirmation of Stay: According to the Erasmus+ regulations, the actual duration of your mobility period has to be confirmed by a certificate. 
  • Mobility Tool Final Report: At the end of your mobility period, you will receive an e-mail from European Commission about your Erasmus+ study mobility. Please complete the survey within 30 days after your arrival to Turkey. 
  • Copy of Passport (Entry and Exit Stamps)


ERASMUS+ OUTGOING STAFF MOBILITY FOR TRAINING

Staff Mobility for Training is the area of activity which enables staff of higher education institutions holding an Erasmus University Charter (EUC) to spend a period of training between minimum 2 working days and maximum 2 months at a higher education institute or an enterprise in one of the EU member countries.

Aim of the activity is to allow the staff to learn and transfer new knowledge relevant to their field and to learn experiences and good practices of other institutions and develop practical skills required for their current job.
The sending institution and the receiving institution/enterprise must have agreed on the programme of the activities to be undertaken by the visiting staff member (Mobility Agreement) prior to the start of the mobility period.

  • Job-shadowing scheme
  • Study visit
  • Language training*
  • Conferences and seminars*
* Language training and attendance of conferences, seminars and workshops should not represent the majority of the total Erasmus-funded training days per sending institution and academic year (per single grant agreement).

ERASMUS+ INTERNATIONAL CREDIT MOBILITY

​International Credit Mobility programme offers funded exchange opportunities for academic and administrative staff from and to partner countries. Outgoing staff members can apply for the following type of mobilities:  
  • ICM Staff Mobility for Teaching enables academic staff to spend a teaching period between min. 5 days, at least 8 teaching hours, and max. 2 months at an ICM partner institution of ŞEHİR. 
  • ICM Staff Mobility for Training enables administrative and academic staff to take part in a training program at an ICM partner institution of ŞEHİR with the aim of modernization of administrative processes and also increasing internationalization of ŞEHİR. Participants spend a period of training between min. 5 working days and max. 2 months.

  • -10 points for previous participation in Erasmus+ programme
  • Disadvantaged staff (The statement from a doctor or other relevant authority confirming the special needs should be submitted to the International Relations Office during the application period): +10 points 
  • Participation in Erasmus programme in the country of nationality: - 10 points 
  • Application from a non-active department within the Erasmus+ Programme: +10 points 
  • Application to a non-active hosting country within the Erasmus+ programme: +10 points  
  • Compliance with international strategies and aims as outlined in the relevant ICM project: +15 points

Grant payment is subject to the amount of applications received and availability of funds from the Turkish National Agency. Please note that Erasmus grants are only contribution, meaning may not suffice for all your expenses and participants are responsible for their living expenses during the exchange. 

In addition to the Erasmus+ ICM individual grant, selected participants for Erasmus+ ICM grant receive travel support based on the distance between home university and the host university.
