​​​THIRD CALL FOR ERASMUS+ STAFF MOBILITY FOR TEACHING (E-STA) - 2016 PROJECT TERM 

Teaching staff mobility is the area of activity that enables staff of higher education institutions holding an Erasmus University Charter (EUC) to spend a teaching period between 2 days and 2 months at a higher education institution in one of the European Union member countries.

OBJECTIVES OF STAFF MOBILITY FOR TEACHING

  • ​To encourage higher education institutions to broaden and enrich the range and content of  courses they offer
  • To allow students who do not have the possibility to participate in a mobility scheme, to benefit from the knowledge and expertise of academic staff from higher education institutions and from invited staff of enterprises in other European countries
  • To promote exchange of expertise and experience on pedagogical methods
  • To create links between higher education institutions and with enterprises
  • To motivate students and staff to become mobile and to assist them in preparing a mobility period.  

WHO CAN BENEFIT?

The teaching mobility may be carried out by teaching staff of higher education institutions and by invited staff of enterprises. 

APPLICATION PROCESS AND TIMING

1. Consult the Dean of the Faculty for initial approval of your proposed mobility and absence (ensuring any teaching/work responsibilities can be covered)
2. Contact with the Host University and complete the Teaching Agreement  
3. Submit your on-line application form through https://sehir-staff-out.dreamapply.com/ and upload your Invitation Letter and Teaching Agreement to the on-line system.

STEP BY STEP PROCEDURE FOR ONLINE APPLICATION

1. Step: Click “Become an Applicant” at https://sehir-staff-out.dreamapply.com/ 
2. Step: Once you log in the system with your Applicant Code, please click on “ŞEHİR Staff Outgoing” on the top-left corner then click on “Select all” text box and choose either Erasmus+ Staff Teaching from the menu.
3. Step: Choose your teaching mobility destination and click “Apply Now” button. 
4. Step: Complete the application form with the necessary information. Please kindly note that at the time of application, Invitation Letter and Teaching Agreement (signed and stamped by the hosting institution) must be uploaded to on-line system at the Checklist Section.  
5. Step: Submit your on-line application through the system by February 8, 2018. 

An Erasmus stay is possible in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, UK, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain. 

SELECTION 

At the selection stage, the following selection criteria will be taken into account. In case of an equivalency, the preference will go to those who never benefited from the mobility before.

1. Job experience at İstanbul Şehir University 
a) ​< 1 year: - 
b) 1-2 years: + 3 points
c) 3-5 years: + 5 points
d) > 5 years +: + 7 points

2. Erasmus Faculty/Department Coordinators at the time of application: + 5 points

3. For each previous participation in the Erasmus Staff Mobility within KA103 (Erasmus+ Staff Exchange between the program countries): - 5 points

4. For each previous participation in the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility within KA107 (Erasmus+ Staff Exchange between Program and Partner Countries): - 2 points

5. Members of the Department/College/Institute taking part in the Erasmus+ KA103 program for the first time: + 5 points

6. Participation in Erasmus programme in the country of nationality: - 10 points

7. Academic/Administrative staff who have directly contributed to the ŞEHİR Erasmus+ exchange activities by finding new Erasmus+ partners from Europe: + 5 points 

8. Disadvantaged staff (The statement from a doctor or other relevant authority confirming the special needs should be submitted to the International Relations Office during the application period): + 10 points

QUOTA

For the 2016 project, our university has 3 quota for Staff Mobility for Teaching. 

DURATION OF TEACHING

The mobility periods can last from 2 days to 2 months, excluding travel time. The minimum requirement for teaching in the Erasmus+ program is eight hours per stay and week. İstanbul Şehir University embraces the policy of at least 8 hours of teaching and keeping the mobility max. 4 business days per staff, in order to use the budget more effectively. 

All the mobilities must be completed until April 30, 2018. 

FUNDING AND TRAVEL GRANTS 

Staff will receive an EU grant as a contribution to their costs for travel and subsistence during the period abroad. Compensation for subsistence costs will be paid on the basis of daily rates and depends on the receiving country. The Program Countries are divided into the four following groups. 
  • ​Group 1: 144 euros per day for Denmark, Ireland, Netherlands, Sweden, United Kingdom
  • Group 2: 126 euros per day for Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Norway, Austria, Poland, Romania, Czech Republic, Turkey (for incoming staff), Hungary, Cyprus
  • Group 3: 108 euros per day for Germany, Latvia, Malta, Macedonia, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain
  • Group 4: 90 euros per day for Estonia, Croatia, Lithuania, Slovenia 

Travel grants’ maximums are set according to the distance travelled at the following rates:
Travel distances​ Amount
Between 100 and 499 KM:  180 EUR per participant
Between 500 and 1999 KM:  275 EUR per participant
Between 2000 and 2999 KM:  360 EUR per participant
Between 3000 and 3999 KM:  530 EUR per participant
Between 4000 and 7999 KM:  820 EUR per participant
8000 KM or more:  1100 EUR per participant

The rules pertaining to the dedication of grants and reimbursement of the travelling and visa expenses are as follows:

  • The daily/weekly grant which will be given to the staff that will benefit from staff training mobility covers expenses such as accommodation, food, communication, local travel, visa and insurance. For those expenses no extra payment is made.

  • The maximum amount of daily/weekly grant which can be paid to the staff is the amount calculated for the days when the training activity is carried out with the partner institution as approved in the training programme/work plan of the staff. If the training activity is carried out on a day that is an official holiday or weekend, the grant is paid if only the activity has been demonstrated on the training programme/work plan as such.  

  • No grant is given for days without activity or for days in which training activity is not certified. 

  • The Grant of the staff who participates in the mobility is paid in two installments. 80% of the grant is paid before the mobility. Remaining 20% is paid after the staff returns and submits the “Certificate of Attendance” and “Activity Report” to the International Relations Office.  

  • Staff can benefit from Erasmus mobility without a grant. In this case, the same application and selection process is applied.
