Dr. Hakan Danış
Hakan Danış received his B.A. and M.A. in economics degrees from the Marmara University in 2001 and 2003, respectively. He started PhD in Banking and Finance program at Kadir Has University but left the program to join the PhD in economics program in Terry College of Business at University of Georgia, USA. He completed his PhD in economics in 2009 and started working for BBVA as Senior Economist in Houston, TX, USA where he was responsible for macroeconomic analyses and forecasts of the U.S. economy. These forecasts were accepted one of the most accurate forecasts of U.S. economic trends in 2010 and 2011 by Bloomberg USA. In 2012, Hakan Danış joined MUFG Union Bank in San Francisco, CA, USA and is currently a Director in the Risk Department who is responsible for designing macroeconomic scenarios for the Bank and projectting 150+macroeconomic and financial series under each scenario. He has published several academic papers and worked as guest editors in SSCI journals such as Singapore Economic Review and Emerging Markets Finance & Trade. He is currently Managing Editor of Eurasian Economic Review (a Scopus journal) and Vice President of Eurasian Business and Economics Society (EBES). He was one of the founders of EBES and was the president of EBES between 2008 and 2011. He has also been in the Advisory Boards of Innovation and Competition Focused Development Studies Application and Research Center, Bogazici University and Euro-Asia Forum in Politics, Economics and Business.
