Dr. Moutaz Abojeib

Dr. Moutaz Abojeib is an Islamic Finance expert. He is a trainer and researcher at the International Shari’ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA), Malaysia. He holds a Ph.D. in Islamic Finance from the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), a Master in Banking and International Financing from Université Montesquieu Bordeaux 4. He has clocked up 12 years’ work experience in finance, training and banking consultancy. This includes his service at some European Investment Bank projects in the MENA region, and his work in the area of internal audit with few financial institutions.
Islamic economics and Fintech are among his key areas of interest and experience.  Among his most recent achievements is the publication of a comprehensive Islamic economics textbook called ‘Islamic Economics: Principles and Analysis’. More than 60 scholars from around the world worked on this book, which was officiated by the Malaysian prime minister early 2019. Dr Abojeib was the project manager, chief editor of the book and a writer of some chapters.
As far as fintech is concerned, Dr Moutaz Abojeib wrote several articles on Blockchain and Fintech applications for Islamic Finance and participated in several relevant panel discussions. He was a member of the research team appointed by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) to analyze cryptocurrencies from Shariah perspective. He is currently working with BNM research team on 'Shariah appraisal of e-money" and managing  ISRA-Syscode blockchain project to enhance Shariah compliance of Islamic financial institutions.​
