Levent Kaya Ocakaçan

Following his bachelor degree in sociology, Levent Kaya Ocakaçan pursued his studies in History of Economics with special emphasis on the Ottoman economic and political transformation in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. During his PhD studies, he gained a scholarship from Tübitak (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) to carry out research in Venetian State Archives. Currently, he is a lecturer of Ottoman Classical Age, Ottoman Economical and Social History, Early Modern European History, The Wars that have changed the world and The History of Food at Bahçeşehir University. His main interests are Ottoman centralization politics, patronage and Mediterranean studies in early modern period. He did extensive research in the Turkish Maritime Lines Archives, State Archives of the Prime Ministry of the Republic of Turkey and Venetian State Archives.
