Financial Counsellor at the German Consulate General Istanbul

Since August 2018, Mark Zanger is the Representative of Deutsche Bundesbank to Turkey. In this capacity he holds the position of a Financial Counsellor at the German Consulate General in Istanbul. His tasks include monitoring and analysis of economic and financial developments in Turkey, with a special emphasis on issues regarding financial stability and monetary policy. At the same time, he informs interested public and private sector stakeholders as well as local media on the Euro Area’s monetary policy, the Bundesbank's policy in the ESCB and the German financial and banking system. Mark Zanger holds a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Mannheim and a M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Cologne. During his studies he specialised in (international) macroeconomics, monetary policy and finance. He joined the Bundesbank in 2015 attending its trainee programme and afterwards worked as an expert in the Division Strategy, Policy and Supervision within the DG Payments and Market Infrastructures.
